Metal Engraving, Braille & Etching

Metal engraving services from FSM

As part our comprehensive range of general fabrication solutions, FSM offers a suite of specialised services in metal engraving, braille inserting and chemical etching, for a range of products and industries.

Engraving services play a pivotal role across diverse sectors, whether it's for adding identification and branding to your metal products or ensuring compliance with various accessibility standards. Regardless of your engraving purpose, FSM is committed to meeting your requirements with trademark professionalism and precision.

Our typical engraving projects include access control panels, door signs, elevator button panels and machinery panels, as well as producing logos and branding other materials. However, feel free to get in touch to discuss your specific requirements!

Experts in CAD design and customisation

Our passionate CAD designers work hand-in-hand with our skilled engineers to ensure every product is engraved with pinpoint precision. Working with a fully customisable machine, we can engrave metals with characters of various widths, tailored to your unique designs and applications.

As part of our engraving services, we also offer paint filling, which allows us to bring custom detail and vibrant colours to your products.

Precision metal engraving with Gravograph

Utilising industry-standard Gravograph machinery, we have the capability to engrave flat surfaces up to 610 x 815mm with a precision depth tolerance of 0.2mm.

The machine’s remarkable versatility allows us to engrave a spectrum of metals, including steel, aluminium, brass and copper. Mild and stainless steel engraving are frequent features in our portfolio, and we’re always happy to discuss your specific material requirements.

DDA-Compliant Braille Inserting

In addition to our traditional engraving services, we have developed our own technique for applying DDA-compliant braille characters to steel products and access control panels. We are proud to say that our innovative braille solution has received official approval from the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB).

Our commitment to accessibility goes beyond mere compliance; we are glad to be creating a more inclusive world with our RNIB-approved braille solution, empowering your workplace, public service facilities, and housing access systems to meet the highest standards.

Chemical Etching for Rapid Branding

In addition to our metal engraving and braille services, FSM also offers chemical etching, a cost-effective and rapid process ideal for marking company names, ISBNs, and other critical information. Unlike traditional engraving methods, chemical etching does not rely on physical force, but utilises a chemical solution to etch precise markings onto your material, with several key advantages:

  1. Chemical etching ensures precise markings, even on the most intricate designs and finest prints.

  2. The permanent marks left by chemical etching are resistant to wear and capable of withstanding harsh environments.

  3. The process minimises material waste and reduces production cost with a rapid turnaround time, making it an economical choice for large-scale projects.
