Some sheet metal parts are too thin to take a thread or require high strength fastening. At FSM, we have inserting equipment and processes that can accommodate a range of materials and inserts.
Advantages of using fasteners in sheet metal fabrication
- Ease of assembly and disassembly of components
- Minimal distortion which protects the integrity of the component.
- Higher strength fastening than can be achieved in thin materials.
FSM Fasteners
At FSM we supply captive inserts to provide internal or external threads depending on your requirements. FSM's engineers will happily advise on the best option for each project. We have a Haeger inserting machine at our facility. This machine allows for the insertion of multiple fasteners during the handling of a single part and is compatible for use with various clinch nuts, studs, PEM nuts and more, all pressed in with the correct tonnage every time. We can also carry out rivet-nut inserting when needed.
