Following the original door company’s withdrawal from this new build project, the FSM team were approached to see if we could provide a solution using our in-house manufacturing methods to achieve the architect’s designs.
What does SBD compliance mean?
Secured by Design is an official police security initiative that works to improve building security and its immediate surroundings.
SBD is an accreditation which indicates that a security product adheres to a recognised standard of safety and security.
Project Overview and challenges
The FSM team reviewed the SBD criteria alongside our capabilities as sheet metal fabrication engineers, and we put forward a proposal. Once the proposal was accepted by the client and their contractor, we manufactured the necessary doors at our facility in Haverhill.
Due to the number of doors that we manufactured for this project, we had to ensure that we had the proper logistics in place to transport the doors to the client’s location. There were also ongoing site building works taking place at the time of installation, so this was another factor that we had to take into consideration.
The Outcome
Our team installed a number of door systems, including main entrances, secondary access and bin store doors. All doors were delivered on time and within budget, and most importantly, met all SBD security and compliance standards.
